Food bank parcels reach families in Kiambu

On a warm morning outside Nairobi, the NCHI team loaded the van before sunrise: food parcels, a box of prescriptions, a folder of referral letters, and a flask of tea for the road. Every visit starts the same way, by listening first.
The families we meet have often spent everything they had on the first months of treatment. Transport to clinic becomes a luxury; a missed appointment becomes a setback that is hard to undo. Our job is to close those gaps before they widen.
“We don’t arrive with answers. We arrive, sit down, and ask what today needs.”
This season, volunteers packed and delivered parcels to households across the region, while our advocates helped patients navigate referrals and paperwork. Counsellors sat with caregivers who, for once, were asked how they were doing.
None of this happens without the people who give, in shillings through M-Pesa, in hours as volunteers, and in trust as partners. Every contribution is accounted for, and every story like this one is proof of where it went.
If you or someone you love is living with cancer and struggling to afford care, please reach out. And if you are able to give, there is a family waiting for exactly what you can offer.
